Spend Vs Save
A lot of girls, any age would love to be able to spend money on high end make-up. I love my high end make-up but I think that in recent years drugstore brands have upped their game. Here are a few of my favourite high end products with my favourite drugstore dupes!1. MAC - Rebel (£15.50) vs Revlon Lip Butter - Raspberry Pie (£7.99)
Okay so these aren't identical but they're they are the two berry lipstick's I have that are the most similar. I love both these colours! The Lip Butter is more glossy than the MAC lipstick but I still think it's a great alternative for Rebel if you don't want to spend £15.50 on a lipstick.
2. NARS - Copacabana Iilluminator (£23) vs Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator - Bare (£11.99)
I was a little sceptical with the NARS Illuminator but once I got used to using it and using different techniques to apply it, I really fell in love with it...until I bought Skinlights. I am in love with this product. It comes in four shades, just like NARS', so there's one to suit every skin tone. I got the shade 'Bare' and I was a little put off when I swatched it because it does come off really brown, however, when you blend it into your skin it gives the most gorgeous, natural glow. I use this either as a highlight on my cheekbones, cupids bow, bridge of my nose and on my temples or I use it mixed in with my foundation for a really dewy glow. Both of these products are fab!
3. Benefit - They're Real Mascara (£19.50) vs Maybelline - The Falsies Mascara (£7.99)
Both of these mascara's are great in my opinion, the only difference - apart from the price - is that the They're Real Mascara has a plastic wand whereas The Falsies Mascara has a fibre wand which I slightly prefer. They both separate and lengthen my lashes but don't make them clump together which is a big bonus. No one likes spider lashes...do they?!
4. MAC - Studio Fix Fluid (£22) vs Revlon Colourstay Foundation (£12.99)
Revlon Colourstay is by far my holy grail foundation and it's a great dupe to Studio Fix. Both are full coverage and have a demi-matte finish. For me the Revlon foundation just takes over MAC, I find it a lot lighter on the skin, but that's just my preference. I would say to try Colourstay before Studio Fix in case you find that a high coverage foundation isn't for you, at least then you wouldn't have spent a fortune on a foundation!
5. Smashbox - Contour Kit (£35) vs Sleek - Contour Kit (£6.49)
When I first started contouring and highlighting about two years ago I started off with the Sleek kit and found it really good as a beginner palette. The highlighter is gorgeous and the bronzer is a lovely matte brown which I thought was the perfect shade for my pale skin. Since then I've moved up and now I constantly use the Smashbox kit. Both are great in my opinion, Smashbox doesn't have a shimmer highlight though, instead it has a white powder that I use to brighten my face and it has a bronzer and a cool-brown contour colour. They also both come with guides to help you figure out how to contour for your face shape etc which I think is great! Either one of these would be a great kit for beginners or pro;s.
